Ghana to partner Brooklyn NY on “Destination Ghana” Tourism, Arts and Investment Drive
21 September 2021 – As part of the agenda to make Ghana the leading tourism and investment destination in West Africa , the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has held stakeholder sessions with key African -American business, culture and tourism players in the borough of Brooklyn. Accompanied by the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman , the Minister highlighted the need for closer cultural and business ties between the political and business leaders of the borough and Ghana. The Minister said “ Tourism has a key role to play in not just been a conduit for people visiting Ghana, but also a springboard for cultural exchanges and business linkages”. The sessions, held at the Restoration plaza in the heart of Brooklyn, was a follow up to earlier meetings with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce . Attendees agreed to form a collaborative group to ensure commitment on both sides for the smooth take-off and implementation of the “Destination Ghana” initiative. The Initiative will be officially launched at the Weeksville Heritage center in Brooklyn in November 2021 culminating in several tourism, culture and trade delegations visiting Ghana in March 2022. It ties in with Ghana’s ongoing Beyond the Return 10 year program.Jerry Kwabena Adinkra, Co-Promoter of the initiative calls it a bridge of progress and says it is time for the collaboration to yield fruits and transform lives .
